It Has Been Decided!

Hey all and welcome to another edition of my blog! Today, I will be focusing on something that I have been wanted to do for a bit now! Whilst I was having a cup of liquid enthusiasm/starter fluid(coffee) this morning, I made decision of great magnitude! Well, on my part it was of great magnitude! Lol! 2013 is going to be a gangbuster year for me! "Why do I say that and how?"do you ask. Let me tell you! I have a photography group page on +Facebook called Smitten With The Mitten. It involves photos being snapped in and around the Great State of Michigan! There are many photos taken by myself and others members of the group. I digress, that is not what I want to reveal to you in this blog! Sidebar: Ok, yeah, it was! Shameless plug for my group page! Feel free to join. It's an open group! Anyhoo, onto my decision. My group page is good and all! Now, don't get me wrong or misconstrue my intent but it wasn't enough exposure for me! By the way, trying to build some tension for what I'm about to write! Lol. Ok! Enough already! Ha! Ha! DRUM ROLL, please! In about two weeks' time, I will be via Facebook opening a fan page for my photography! Ta! Da! Oh, great(frowny face) not ANOTHER one! Jeez! Like there ISN'T enough photography fan pages on +Facebook NOW!! Calm down(in soothing voice), Calm down. Please give me a listen. Don't be hatin. You're right! There are MANY fan pages for photography on +Facebook as of now. Ok, we're listening. Give us the (eye rolling commences) the hard sell! How are YOU +janetsilversides, going to be different from ALL the others! That is a such a good question! So glad that you asked! Honestly, I don't plan on telling you how I plan on being different other than that I've been told by others who have viewed my photos that I have a unique perspective! That will be my marketing scheme/strategy. I WANT you to let me know that my photography is worth a mention, follow, like, view and purchase. I will say this much, I have received a lot of positive feedback from many in the photography community! It TOTALLY blows me away! TOTALLY!! I have had a misconception that many professional photographers that have become noted or famous, tend to be aloof and arrogant! Especially when regarding the amateurs(me) looking for some tips, tricks of the trade or help! So NOT true!! On many of the photography social networks that I am on, all the pros have been genuine, nice, supportive, helpful and welcoming! I have been told oft times:" Keep doing what you are doing when it comes to photography. When it stops being fun, stop.". This is such a relief to me! I have become more energized and inspired to continue on in my endeavors. Onwards and upward! One of the best pieces of advice/wisdom was imparted by up and coming fashion photog +Bryant Eslava: "... grab your iPod and camera. Listen to some music and see where it takes your photography." Not his exact quote but it speaks to me!
I have joined +MeetUp.com and there's a locally based photography workshop that takes photogs out and about +Detroit. My first workshop is next Sunday, at 7:00 am. It is +urban exploration. I cannot wait!! I will being using all my cameras including the iPhone!
It had to happen!! Ugh! I have had to take on a second job to finance my passion/obsession for photography! Oh well! It could always be WORSE!! I like to be retro and shoot with film. That's not a cheap venture when it comes to developing! However, there is a bright spot, +Costco does a fab job at developing 35mm and is relatively inexpensive!
That's about all the time we have for today's post! Thanks for viewing and please stayed tuned for future editions! If you like my blog, please follow and leave a comment below!
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the
Hollow of His hand!
-An Irish Blessing.
May the Force be with You!
Cheers
